WINNER OF THE THIRD SUPETAR SUPER FILM FESTIVAL – „MEN WHO SWIM“ BY DYLAN WILLIAMS
The 3rd Supetar Super Film Festival ended on Saturday, July 9th 2011. with the announcement of the festival winner chosen by the audience which made SSFF for the first time a festival with a competitive character. The winner film is „Men who swim“by Dylan Williams (UK/Sweden) – a memorable, warm, funny and entertaining film about love and friendship of a group of men who engage in a synchronized swimming club and become world champions in the sport.
The third edition of Supetar Super Film Festival was more than sucessfull once again. All of the shown films were quality European documentaries or Croatian films with a cult status, the audience was substantial and of a great vibe, and we altogether enjoyed five days of great vibes and a cool mix of culture and tourism.
Note to all of those who missed this year's SSFF - most of the festival programme will be sired in Zagreb's Dokukino from July 14th to 17th!

Supetar Super Film Festival starts with a 0. day!
3. Supetar Super Film Festival (5.-9.07.2011.) starts its side-programme with its 0th day - on Monday, July 4th 2011!!
Đelo Hadžiselimović will have a lecture on the theme of documentary film entitled "Chosen by Đelo Hadćiselimović" at 21h in the Gallery Ivan Rendić in Supetar.
The programme continues with an off film projection of a documentary-feature entitled "Lavanderman: truth or myth" by Zvonimir Rumboldt which will be shown in the night club Thriller.
The projection will be followed by a concert of the Gabba Gabba group, a Ramones cover band.

Supetar Super Film Festival, 5. – 9.7.2011., one day extra / partner country Czech Republic/ 19 films, 10 in the official competition / five specially made 'Brač journals' / for the first time with of competitive nature/regional, croatian and dalmatian premieres / retrospective of Croatian documentary film by Đelo Hadžiselimović /
The biggest film festival on an island in Croatia - Supetar Super Film Festival, the European documentary film festival is taking place for the third time in Supetar on the island of Brač, this year from July 5th - 9th 2011.
The film programme has been selected by our renowned selectors. Oliver Sertić responsible for the international selection, the selection of Croatian documentary film was made by Đelo Hadžiselimović, and Milana Martinović made a choice of Czech film. A special category which is a novelty this year are the custom-made series of Brač chronicles.
After last year's successful cooperation with Scotland and their Scottish Documentary Institute, this year we welcome Czech Republic as our partner and their Institute Dokumentarniho Filmu.
The festival opens with the Croatian premiere of the film "Czech Peace", of the young authors Vit Klusak and Filip Remunda with a bright future ahead, based on the success of this film as well as their previous hit "Czech dream".
On the first day the visitors will also be able to see the Zagreb Film Festival awarded film "Me, my gipsy family and Woody Allen" (Italy) by a young director Laura Halilović with its theme of life and discrimination of the Roma minority in Italy.
Another regional premiere is the UK film "My Kidnapper", by Mark Henderson who documents his kidnapping by the Colombian guerilla in 2003, and revisiting Columbia a few years after to meet up with their kidnappers and try to resolve some issues that are troubling all of the involved sides.
Further Croatian premieres are the films "Welcome to North Korea" (Czech Republic) by Linda Jablonska, "Men who swim" by Dylan Williams - a Swedish/UK coproduction whose author will be joining us in Supetar to talk about his experience as a male synchronized swimmer and a very intimate film "Praise the sea, stick to the shore" by the young Ivan Marinović (Czech Republic/Montenegro) which is also the world premiere od the film by this prospective author.
Dalmatian premieres are the entertaining "Don Juans: excuse me, miss" by Goran Dević (Croatia) which reports the attempts of Americans in Zagreb to woo over Croatian girls, and the film by Alexander Gentelev "thieves by law" (Israel/Germany) in which three authentic Russian mobsters openly speak about their occupation.
Boris Mitić, one of the most successful contemporary Serbian documentarists will present himself with his last film "Goodbye, how are you?" based on Serbian aphorisms and the footage of travels along the Balkans.
Alongside with the film programme, the festival guests can join in a rich educative programme and lots of fun side activities.
After film projections, as every year, you can enjoy in a rich music programme. This year's headliners are the rockers from Rijeka Let3, followed by Ljetno kino, Bolje ne može, Betabombe and the rockabilly band B and the bops.
Authors of the SSFF are members of the non-profit organization Super Supetar which transforms this little island town into a cultural melting point full of films and side-festival happenings which are completely free.

Enjoy some of the best European documentaries and sleeping beneath the stars, filled with loads of great fun, since most of the SSFF crew is situated in the camp as well.
